The Islamic Forum of Nigeria has appealed to the Federal Government to rescind its decision and withdraw from the Samoa agreement without any further delay.
It also condemned in the strongest terms “any attempt to smuggle homosexuality, lesbianism and all pervert ideas contained in LGBTQIA+ into our society, under whatever guise.”
The forum made the appeal in a communique issued at the end of its stating held at its National Headquarters, Farm Centre, Kano State on Thursday.
Dateline Nigeria reports that the federal government had denied any link between the signed Samoa agreement with LGBTQ, insisting it did not in any way violate the laws of Nigeria.
But, according to the group, following the controversy generated by the agreement, it “convened an interfaith meeting, deliberated over the issues weaved into Samoa agreement and their implications on our cultural and religious values.
“After listening to experts on the matter from the legal, social and religious perspectives, the general consensus is that even though the agreement may not contain explicit reference to LGBTQ issues, they are latently embedded in several parts of the agreement, thereby providing a safe haven and opportunity for the social perverts and their promoters to manipulate and take advantage of the agreement to the detriment of our most cherished religious and cultural values.”
The Islamic Forum added that “It is gratifying to note that, from the raging debates, an inter-religious consensus has emerged across all ethnic nationalities of this blessed country for total rejection of anything that provides the slightest chance for promotion of homosexuality, lesbianism and any perverted ideas represented by the concept of LGBTQIA+ within our society.”
In its resolutions, the forum said “The meeting condemns in the strongest terms any attempt to smuggle homosexuality, lesbianism and all pervert ideas contained in LGBTQIA+ into our society, under whatever guise.
“The meeting further appeals to the federal government to rescind its decision and withdraw from the SAMOA agreement without any further delay.
“The meeting further advises the Federal and all State governments to always consult with and listen to the genuine opinions of well-meaning citizens concerning any sensitive matters particularly those having serious religious, social and educational implications before acceding or committing our country to them.
“The meeting calls on all parents, teachers and scholars to keenly monitor the upbringing of the children, pupils and students especially things been promoted on conventional and social media in order to curtail the strategies and the conspiracies being executed to promote these pervert behavior in our society by all means.
“The Federal and State governments should collaborate and establish effective agencies that will monitor and evaluate all NGOs that enter the country, and ensure that they are not part of those promoting the perveted concepts of LGBTQIA+
“We should all continue to pray and seek Allah’s help and protection from all the conspiracies that are being hatched against this nation of ours”
