1 feared dead as IPOB invades Delta community

One person was feared dead on Wednesday when suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) invaded Ugbolu community and environs in Delta State.

They also attacked two Dangote trucks, a commercial motorcycle and an Audi Volkswagen car.

The suspected militant group reportedly blocked the Ugbolu/Illah road at Mile 5, shooting indiscriminately.

The Nation learnt it was at the process someone was shot dead.

A source said motorists and residents of the area fled into the bush for fear of being hit by stray bullets.

He said while on his way to work at 7.30 am, he saw people scampering for safety as the shooting raged.

According to him, security operatives, including solders and police have been deployed to the area to restore peace and order.

Delta Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe said he was not aware and does not have details but said no life was lost.

Edafe said officers and men have been deployed to the troubled area to restore peace and order, adding the police was on top of the situation. (The Nation)
