
The Minister of State for Health Dr A Olorunnimbe Mamora has celebrated the successful separation of conjoined twins by a team of medical experts from Federal Medical Centre Keffi, Nasarawa State recently.
Mamora spoke at a media event to mark this remarkable achievement.
He stated that “the separation of conjoined twins used to be an event that occurred in the medical practice of developed countries but here we are announcing an operation carried out by 100% indigenous team.”
“The conjoined twins were born about 15 months ago on the 4th of April, 2019 in a facility at Nasarawa state. They were referred to the FMC Keffi, where they were found to be joined at the abdomen and rib cage”.

“On the 10th of July, after a 9-hour long surgery, they were successfully separated with no intra-operative complications. They were managed in the ICU and the post-operative events and outcome have been most satisfactory.”
Mamora appreciated the Governor of Nasarawa State AA Sule, the chairman of the governing board of Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Keffi, Prince Sule-Iko Sadiq, members of the board and the Medical Director/Chief Executive, Dr. Yahaya Baba Adamu for this remarkable achievement.
