Speaker Abbas mourns Dan Isan Zazzau Umar Shehu Idris

The Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Ph.D, GCON, has expressed shock and sadness over the death of Alhaji Umar Shehu Idris, the Dan Isan Zazzau.

The late Umar was a son of the late Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris. He died on Tuesday after a brief illness, about 40 days after his mother, Hajiya Habibah Shehu-Idris, passed away.

Until his death, Umar was the Assistant Secretary of the Zazzau Emirate Council.

The Speaker, who is also a prince in the emirate and holds the traditional title of Iyan Zazzau, described Umar’s death as unfortunate and painful.

“The death is devastating. It is shocking and very painful. Umar was a brilliant young prince who served the emirate wholeheartedly,” he said.

While praying for the repose of the soul of the late Dan Isan Zazzau, Speaker Abbas prayed Allah (SWT) to reward the late Alhaji Umar with Jannatul Firdaus.

He sent his heartfelt condolences to the entire Zazzau Emirate, particularly to the family of the late Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris, and His Royal Highness, Amb. Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, over the loss.

Born in 1983 at the Zazzau Palace in Zaria, Alhaji Umar attended Therbow School, GRA, Zaria; Hassan Ibrahim Secondary School, Gwarzo, Kano; bagged his first degree at the University of Khartoum, Sudan, and Master’s Degree in Banking and Finance at the Ahmadu Bello University (A.B.U), Zaria.
