
The Kano State Police Command has arrested a suspected kidnapper and rescued of a 75-year-old victim, Abdulrahman Yunusa, a native of Maigana, Soba Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
A statement by the police disclosed this in a statement by SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa on Sunday.
He said acting on intelligence, the Commissioner of Police directed the tactical teams led by the Officer in charge of the Command’s Anti-kidnapping Squad, for a raid operation on suspected kidnap syndicate’s hideout at Bagau Town, Bebeji Local Government Area, Kano State.
“During the raid on 9th May, 2025, one Musa Tukur, a 23-year-old male of Kudan Local Government Area of Kaduna State, was arrested guarding the kidnapped victim in the hideout.
“The victim was found with his eyes covered with fabric and some body parts tied with rope.
“The suspect confessed to conspiring with his accomplices to kidnap the victim from his residence on 3rd May 2025 at about 12:30 pm and holding him hostage for a ransom of twenty million naira (N20,000,000:00).
“The victim was rushed to the hospital, treated and discharged, and reunited with his family.
“On hearing about the rescue of the kidnap victim by the Kano State Police Command, members of his community from Soba LGA, Kaduna State stormed Bompai Police Headquarters Kano in jubilations, pouring encomiums on the Commissioner of Police and the Command, for the efforts and the success recorded.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commends the officers involved in the operation for their professionalism and appreciates the support of the public in assisting the police with credible information in combating crime and criminalities in the state.
“He further assures the public that the Command remains committed to ensuring the safety of lives and property.
“He encourages anyone with information on crime or suspicious activities to report to the nearest Police Station…,” the statement said.
