Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has appointed Alhaji Ahmed Maiyaki as the state’s new Commissioner for Information.
The appointment of Maiyaki, the current Managing Director of the Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC), was announced in a statement signed by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Malam Ibraheem Musa, on Tuesday.
“His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani (CON), has approved the appointment of Alhaji Ahmed Maiyaki as the new Commissioner of Information.
“This follows the disengagement of Professor Muhammad Sani Bello from the Kaduna State Executive Council,” the statement said.
Bello, who holds the traditional title of Mainan Zazzau, served as the pioneer Commissioner of Education under Uba Sani’s administration before his redeployment to the newly reestablished Ministry of Information.
Maiyaki is expected to be sworn in immediately and will assume duties as part of the governor’s media and communications team.
He previously served in various media capacities, including as Director-General of Media and Publicity under a past administration.
Dateline Nigeria reports that social media platforms were awash with a purported letter of voluntary resignation tendered by the former information commissioner.
