Pantami denies plan to marry Aisha Buhari

Former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Pantami, has dismissed claims that he is set to marry former Nigerian first lady, Aisha Buhari.

Dateline Nigeria had reported that the former first lady was free to remarry, having completed her mandatory 130-day Islamic mourning period (iddah) after the passing of President Muhammadu Buhari.

A purported wedding invitation had surfaced on social media claiming that Pantami will marry Aisha Buhari.

Pantami has however swiftly put the speculation to rest, telling PR Nigeria that the claim is baseless and impossible.

He said: “It is shocking that anyone would fabricate such a rumour. President Buhari is a father figure to us, and we regard his widow as a mother. The claim is baseless and impossible.”

Dateline Nigeria reports that the former first lady had said she will not remarry, according to Dr Charles Omole, author of the 600-page biography titled ‘From Soldier to Statesman: The Legacy of Muhammadu Buhari’.

Also, Bashir Ahmad, a former media aide to the late ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, had dismissed the report as a lie.
