The 2023 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State Isa Ashiru Kudan has officially resigned from the party.
He announced his resignation in letter submitted to the PDP Chairman, Kudan Ward, Kudan Local Government Area of the state, on Friday, March 27, 2026.
While citing the party’s “persistent internal leadership crisis, conflicts, rancor and divisions,” the two-term gubernatorial candidate noted that the “decision is personal and taken in good faith.”
“I write with a deep sense of humility to formally notify the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, of my decision to resign my membership of the party, effective from today, March 27, 2026.
“After careful reflection over the persistent internal leadership crisis, conflicts, rancor and divisions, it has become increasingly difficult for me to continue to participate actively as a member of the party,” he said.
Meanwhile, Kudan has paid a visit to former Vice President and ADC chieftain Atiku Abubakar at his Abuja residence alongside close associates and stakeholders.
Announcing, the visit in a Facebook post on Monday, he said “Our engagement was candid and reflective, focused on the present condition of the nation and the responsibility of leadership at a time such as this.
“His wealth of experience in governance and national politics remains instructive, particularly as the country navigates a complex political and economic moment.
“We examined the shifting political landscape and the clear need for a stronger, more coherent opposition that can offer Nigerians a credible alternative.
“There is a growing consensus across political circles that unity of purpose, strategic alignment, and principled leadership will define the path toward restoring confidence in democratic institutions and ensuring that governance serves the broader public interest.
“This visit forms part of ongoing consultations aimed at deepening dialogue and strengthening collective resolve. The challenges before us are real, but so too is the determination among leaders and stakeholders to pursue a more stable, inclusive, and prosperous Nigeria.”
