
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq, wanted in connection with an alleged case of criminal conspiracy, abuse of office, and diversion of public funds.
In a public notice issued by the Commission and signed by Head of Media and Publicity Dele Oyewale, the EFCC said Farouq, 52, is wanted over financial misconduct during her time in office.
The notice, which includes her photograph, states that her last known address is EN 008, Okpo River, off Agulu Street, Maitama, Abuja.

Farouq, an indigene of Zamfara State, served as minister from 2019 to 2023 under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The Commission urged anyone with information on her whereabouts to contact its offices in Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt, or Abuja, or reach it via the hotline 08093322644 and email [email protected].
The public can also report to the nearest Police Station or other security agencies.
Dateline Nigeria reports that Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, High Court Abuja had on Thursday, April 16, 2026 issued a warrant of arrest against Sadiya Umar Faruoq and a permanent secretary in the ministry, Bashir Nura Alkali.
Farouq and Alkali were scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday before the court but failed to appear. The third defendant, Sani Nafiu Mohammed, was however present in court.
