Abbas declares declares intention to seek re-election

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, on Saturday declared his intention to seek re-election in 2027.

Tajudeen made the declaration at a grand rally held at Filin Mallawa Eid Ground in Zaria, Kaduna State.

The event began with a solidarity walk from Babban Dodo through Zaria city to the rally venue.

Top government officials, lawmakers, APC leaders, traditional rulers and business leaders attended the gathering.

Speaking at the rally, Tajudeen said his decision was driven by performance, service and measurable achievements.

“This declaration is not based on promises alone. It is based on work and results.

“It is also based on a record that our people can see and verify,” he said.

He thanked President Bola Tinubu for what he described as courageous leadership and reform-driven governance.

Tajudeen also praised Gov. Uba Sani for promoting peace, unity and development across Kaduna State.

He appreciated the support of the All Progressives Congress, traditional rulers, religious leaders, youths and women.

According to him, before becoming Speaker, he sponsored 74 bills in the National Assembly.

He said 21 of the bills were signed into law, reflecting his legislative commitment.

Tajudeen said thousands benefited from his agricultural and economic empowerment programmes across the constituency.

He said tractors, fertilisers, vehicles, tricycles and motorcycles were distributed to support livelihoods.

He added that about 2,400 people received financial support for businesses and household income.

Tajudeen said he facilitated the N80 billion Education City project in Zaria, adding that about 30,000 students benefited from a N5 billion scholarship scheme.

He said schools across the constituency were rehabilitated to improve learning conditions.

On healthcare, Tajudeen said several primary healthcare centres were facilitated in different communities, also highlighting the inauguration of a 100-bed specialist hospital in Zaria.

Reviewing the 10th House of Rep under his leadership, Tajudeen said more than 2,000 bills were introduced within two years.

He added that over 180 bills were passed, while more than 50 received presidential assent.

Tajudeen urged constituents to support his re-election bid for continuity in development.

“This is not the time for uncertainty. This is not the time for experiments. This is the time to consolidate the progress we have made together,” he said.

He pledged to prioritise youth empowerment, education, healthcare, infrastructure and economic growth if re-elected.

In his remarks, Governor Sani urged voters to support Tajudeen and the APC in 2027.

Represented by Secretary to Kaduna State Government, Alhaji Abdulkadir Mayere, the governor said the party deserved continued support from the electorate. (NAN)
