The Kebbi State Hisbah Command has commended a man who voluntarily reported to its office to seek justice after being accused of impregnating a young woman without concrete evidence.
According to the command, the man, a Christian, denied responsibility for the pregnancy but said he was willing to continue caring for the woman until she gives birth. He also offered to cover the cost of a DNA test to determine paternity.
“If the test confirms the pregnancy is mine, I will take full responsibility,” he told officials. “But if it proves otherwise, I want justice for the damage done to my reputation.”
The incident occurred on 23 May 2026. Hisbah officials said the man’s decision to come forward voluntarily demonstrated accountability and respect for due process.
The command used the case to urge the public against making accusations without proper investigation.
“People should be cautious before passing judgment or making accusations without full investigation and evidence, in order to protect dignity and maintain peace in the community,” said Director Shari’a, Surajo Usman Kamba.
The command said it would oversee the process to ensure fairness for both parties.
