
Dr. Gidado Halilu, a former Kaduna Polytechnic Medical Director and onetime Commissioner of Health in Adamawa State, has died in Kaduna.
He died in the early hours of Sunday, May 31, 2026 after a protracted illness. His funeral prayer (janaza) is slated to hold after Zuhr (noon prayer) at the Yahaya Road Jumuah Mosque Kaduna.
Dr. Halilu, a scion of the Alkali Hammanjoda family in Adamawa State, dedicated more than three decades to medical service in Nigeria.
As Medical Director of Kaduna Polytechnic, he oversaw healthcare services for the institution’s staff and students as well as other residents of the Kaduna metropolis.
Dr Gidado Halilu served as Head of the Medical Team for the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, for eight years, leading doctors responsible for pilgrims’ healthcare during Hajj operations.
His career spanned clinical practice, public health administration, and service to the Muslim community through the annual pilgrimage.
