Eid el-Kabir: FRSC Corps Marshal commends operatives, warns motorists against speeding, phone use

Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Shehu Mohammed, has commended personnel deployed for the ongoing Eid el-Kabir Special Patrol Operations for their dedication and professionalism in keeping highways safe during the festive period.

The commendation followed reports from supervisory teams deployed from the National Headquarters to monitor the nationwide operation. Mohammed said the “commitment and gallantry” demonstrated by operatives have significantly improved traffic flow and road safety across the country.

“While expressing satisfaction with the general conduct and operational efficiency of the personnel, Shehu Mohammed urged them not to relent in their efforts but to sustain the current momentum throughout the duration of the exercise,” according to a statement by FRSC Corps Public Education Officer, Deputy Corps Commander Osondu Ohaeri.

The Corps Marshal attributed the positive impact of the patrols to both the commitment of FRSC personnel and cooperation from motorists. He appealed to road users to continue supporting the Corps by obeying traffic regulations and adhering to road safety advisories issued for the season.

However, Mohammed expressed concern that some motorists still engage in dangerous violations that undermine safety efforts. He specifically warned against speeding, dangerous overtaking, overloading, and use of phones while driving, noting that such infractions remain major contributors to road traffic crashes.

“Road safety remains a shared responsibility and that the road does not forgive mistakes,” he said, urging patience and discipline on highways.

He reassured Nigerians of the Corps’ commitment to ensuring a safe and hitch-free post Eid el-Kabir celebration through sustained enforcement, public enlightenment, traffic management, and prompt rescue services across the nation’s highways.
