As part of activities lined up for the International Election Observation Programme (IEOP) for the Republic of Korea’s Nationwide Simultaneous Local Elections, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, on Monday, 1st June 2026, led members of the INEC delegation on a visit to the South Korean National Election Commission (NEC) Headquarters and the Korean Civic Education Institute (KOCIE).
The visit provided an opportunity for engagement on the evolution of the Korean electoral system, with particular focus on the electoral process, facilities and technology deployed in election administration.
During the engagement, officials of the NEC and KOCIE made presentations on the development of the Korean electoral system and shared insights into the use of technology and institutional facilities in the management of elections.
