The Senior Special Assistant to the Bauchi State Governor on Internal Security, Mr. Babayo Liman, has denied allegations that he is collecting salaries from both the Federal and Bauchi State governments simultaneously.
Liman was responding to accusations contained in a letter linked to the law firm G. Hassan & Co, Sahara Reporters, and other social and print media platforms.
The letter alleged that Mr. Liman holds two government positions at once: Chief Executive Officer (Accounts), SGL 14, in the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, posted to the Federal Ministry of Works in Jos, and his current role as SSA in Bauchi State, appointed by Governor Bala Mohammed.
In a letter dated June 15, 2026, signed by Barrister Nathan Umide on his behalf and addressed to the Bauchi State Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Liman described the claims as false and damaging to his reputation.
His solicitors said their client is not indebted to the Federal Government in any form or manner during the period of his political appointment, contrary to the allegations.
The statement added that the false claims are aimed at tarnishing the SSA’s image, particularly by those he has stopped from extorting poor, hardworking roadside traders.
It said the allegations can be verified from the relevant Federal Ministry and that Mr. Liman is awaiting a certificate of non-liability from the Federal Government to clear his name.
The statement further noted that the Bauchi State Government has received all documents relating to the matter from Mr. Liman.
It advised those spreading false information to await the outcome of the letters sent to the Federal Government and Bauchi State Government.
The solicitors said Liman initially ignored the reports as the utterances of attention seekers and social media clickbaiters.
They warned that defamation of character, cyberstalking, and bullying are offences under Nigerian law, and that their client will not hesitate to take legal action against all persons and bodies involved in the calculated attempt to damage his person and reputation.
