The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a suspected notorious drug trafficker allegedly involved in supplying illicit drugs to armed bandits, and recovered 500 tablets of D5 during an operation in Funtua Local Government Area.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the suspect, identified as Sunday Eze, popularly known as “Dunbuje,” was arrested on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at about 5:00 p.m. following credible intelligence.
Operatives attached to the Central Police Station, Funtua, tracked and apprehended the suspect. An immediate search led to the recovery of the illicit drugs.
The Command said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly specialized in supplying D5 and other drugs to armed bandits and other criminal elements operating in Funtua and surrounding communities, thereby supporting their criminal activities.
“The suspect remains in police custody while investigations continue to identify his supply network, trace the source of the drugs, and arrest other accomplices,” the statement said. “He will be charged to court upon the completion of the investigation.”
The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Ali Umar Fage, commended the operatives for their professionalism and prompt response. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks by disrupting their logistics and drug supply chains.
CP Fage also appealed to residents to remain vigilant and continue providing credible and timely information to assist the police in tackling crime across the state.
