The Kebbi State Hisbah Board has rescued an infant who was abandoned behind Zinari Hotel in Birnin Kebbi.
This was disclosed in a statement on Monday, July 20, 2026, signed by Surajo Usman Kamba, Director of Shari’a at the Kebbi State Hisbah Board.
According to the statement, the Board received a report about the abandoned baby on the morning of July 20, 2026. Hisbah officers who responded to the scene found the infant in a condition that required immediate care.
“The baby was rescued and appropriate measures were taken to ensure his health and protect his rights,” the statement said. “The infant has been handed over to the relevant center for urgent care.”
Security agencies have also commenced investigations to identify those responsible for abandoning the child.
The Hisbah Board urged members of the public to continue cooperating with authorities by reporting any information that could help protect lives and the dignity of society.
It further appealed to parents and guardians to be responsible in child upbringing and to seek lawful solutions to challenges instead of resorting to acts that violate both religious teachings and the law.
The incident has been handed over to relevant authorities for further action.
