For anyone who closely follows the Nigerian media, or indeed the media around the world, it would be difficult to recall a day since the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration came into office in 2023 without seeing the face of His Excellency Senator Kashim Shettima carrying out an important official assignment or representing the President at a significant national or international engagement.
This reflects his dedication, resilience, commitment, and exceptional work ethic. Senator Kashim Shettima has consistently demonstrated that he is a Vice President who takes his responsibilities seriously, working tirelessly, day and night, to contribute to the success of the Tinubu administration and the progress of Nigeria.
Today, however, after almost twelve days without seeing or hearing much of our Vice President at official engagements within the country, we must admit that we miss him.
The reason for his absence is a positive one. His Excellency Senator Kashim Shettima is currently taking a well-deserved vacation with the approval of his principal and boss, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The President understands the enormous responsibilities the Vice President has carried since the administration came into office, and the fact that he has hardly taken a meaningful break from his demanding schedule.
Throughout this period, Senator Kashim Shettima has shown Nigerians and the world that he came into government to work, not to seek comfort or pleasure. He has remained committed to supporting policies and initiatives that will bring progress, prosperity, and lasting benefits to the Nigerian people, while working closely with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
We miss seeing him actively involved in the affairs of the Tinubu administration, because his presence and commitment have become a familiar and reassuring part of government activities.
Nevertheless, as he travelled for his well-deserved vacation in peace, we pray that Almighty Allah will bring him back safely, grant him renewed strength and good health, and enable him to continue serving Nigeria with dedication, wisdom, and courage alongside President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
We miss you, Your Excellency Senator Kashim Shettima.
