Operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command have arrested a 23-year-old man with 64 bottles of a harmful substance known locally as “Suck and Die” and 17 pieces of rubber solution in Bauchi metropolis.
The suspect, Aliyu Suleman of Tudun Salmanu, Bauchi, was arrested on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at about 5:00pm at Bayan Gari during a routine intelligence-led operation by the Vehicle Crime Response Unit, VCRU.
A statement signed by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, said the items recovered included 64 bottles containing Methylene Chloride, locally referred to as “Suck and Die”, and 17 pieces of rubber solutions. Both were seized and registered as exhibits.
The suspect is currently in custody and cooperating with investigators. Police said he will be charged to court at the conclusion of investigation.
Reacting to the arrest, the Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, reiterated the Command’s commitment to tackling drug abuse and safeguarding public health.
He directed all Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to intensify surveillance and operations aimed at dismantling networks involved in the sale and abuse of illicit drugs and substances across the state.
The command also called on parents, guardians, and community stakeholders to remain vigilant and provide timely information to the police, stressing that the fight against drug and substance abuse requires a collective approach.
