
The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, has visited the Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Dr. Aisha Garba, to explore avenues for strengthening collaboration on the protection of schools and educational infrastructure across the country.
The engagement focused on deepening institutional cooperation between the NSCDC and UBEC, particularly in the area of school security and the protection of critical educational assets.
Prof. Audi emphasised the importance of a safe and secure learning environment to the effective delivery of basic education, noting that protecting schools is essential to safeguarding pupils, teachers, education personnel and investments in the sector.
He reaffirmed the Corps’ readiness to work closely with UBEC in developing practical security interventions that would enhance the protection of educational facilities nationwide.
The Commandant General also stressed the importance of sustained inter-agency collaboration in addressing emerging security challenges and ensuring that educational infrastructure remains secure and accessible to its intended beneficiaries.
In her response, the Executive Secretary of UBEC, Dr. Aisha Garba, welcomed the engagement and underscored the importance of stronger partnerships with relevant security agencies in securing educational facilities and protecting investments in basic education.
The meeting provided an opportunity for both institutions to explore areas of mutual interest and strengthen coordination towards safer schools and better-protected educational infrastructure.
