
The Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN) has inducted President of MAAUN Group of Universities, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo as honorary member of the association.
The recognition was in appreciation of his contributions to higher education, healthcare training and the advancement of Medical Laboratory Science in Nigeria and across Africa.
In a letter dated September 4, 2026, the association said Prof. Gwarzo was nominated by its National Executive Council in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the development of the profession.
AMLSN also acknowledged his support for the establishment and development of Medical Laboratory Science education at MAAUN in Niger Republic and MAAUN Kano.
The association particularly commended his support for the Doctor of Medical Laboratory Science (MLSD) programme, describing it as a landmark initiative aimed at strengthening professional capacity, research, innovation and leadership in the profession.
Prof. Gwarzo’s commitment to expanding access to quality health sciences education, it said, has created opportunities for the training and development of future Medical Laboratory Scientists and other healthcare professionals across Africa.
His formal investiture as an Honorary Member will take place during AMLSN’s 61st Annual Scientific Conference and Annual General Meeting, scheduled for November 4 to 8, 2026, in Minna, Niger State.
The National President of the association, Dr. Casmir Ifeanyi, congratulated Prof. Gwarzo on the recognition and commended his continued support for the Medical Laboratory Science profession in Nigeria.
