The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested five suspects in three separate cases of culpable homicide and criminal conspiracy and foeticide in Bauchi metropolis, Kirfi and Ningi Local Government Areas.
In a press release on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafi’u Habib, said the arrests were part of the Command’s sustained onslaught against violent crimes.
On the first case, Habib said that on September 18, 2026, at about 7:46pm, the Command received a report from a Ward Head in Gida Dubu area, Bauchi, that a misunderstanding ensued between one Abubakar Hudu, 19, and one Hassan Adamu at the residence of the latter.
He said the misunderstanding degenerated into exchange of blows before they were separated and the victim left the scene.
He said at about 5:45pm, the victim fell unconscious and was rushed to the Specialist Hospital, Bauchi, where he was certified dead by a medical doctor. The corpse was examined, photographed and released to the family for burial while the suspect has been arrested.
In the second case in Kirfi, the Command said on September 17 at about 10pm, one Muhammad Bello, a Village Head in Kirfi LGA, reported a dispute over farmland between one Haruna Bala, 25, and Audu Babangida, 22, both of Kafin Sarkin Yaki Village, which escalated into a fight.
The PPRO said the suspect allegedly stabbed the victim on the neck with a knife. The victim was rushed to General Hospital Kirfi where he was confirmed dead.
He said following an intensive intelligence-led manhunt, operatives of Kirfi Division on September 18 at about 11am arrested the fleeing suspect at River Kafin Iya while attempting to cross to Gombe State, and recovered the knife.
The third case involves alleged criminal conspiracy and foeticide in Ningi. Habib said on September 18 at about 6:30pm, based on credible information from a human rights activist, one Aminu Jibrin of Burra District conspired with one Salihu Moh’d, 25, a chemist shop operator, and unlawfully administered substances that induced and terminated the pregnancy of one Hauwa’u Yakubu, 22, of AAY Quarters, Ningi.
He said operatives of Ningi Division have arrested the duo for alleged criminal conspiracy and killing of an unborn child.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed that all cases be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Bauchi, for discreet investigation and prosecution.
The CP warned against jungle justice and self-help in dispute resolution and urged members of the public to remain law-abiding.
