Worried by discrepancies in the payment of salaries, leading to a segment of civil servants and pensioners not receiving salaries for months, the Bauchi State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has decided to wade into the matter.
A statement by the Publicity Secretary of the Bauchi PDP Alhaji Yayanuwa Zainabari said the party was worried with the way the issue of some workers not receiving their salaries despite various committees set up by the Governor Bala Mohammed to end the problem.

Zainabari said some workers who didn’t receive their salaries alleged that people who have contacts in the system were being paid.
He said “any worker who has genuine issue that he didn’t receive his salary, he should come forward with his documents to the PDP officials nearest to him and they will lead him to collect his salary.”
He urged politicians and opposition parties not to politicize the issue because it’s a work the party initiated out of patriotism and in the best interest of the common man.
Zainabari argued that “if to say the present governor waited to solve the problem before executing any project he would not be able abke to do it”
He said the issue is an inherited problem from the previous administration and the present administration demonstrated genuine commitment in solving the problem once and for all.
Zainabari said as government is fighting the injustice in the payment of salaries, some unpatriotic workers and politicians are still doing everything possible to sabotage government efforts.
The PRO said “it gives Governor Bala Mohammed sleepless night whenever one worker didn’t receive his salary.”
He said that the aim of the exercise is to ensure that no civil servant goes home at the end of the month without his or her legitimate salary, the same goes to the pensioners.
But the Bauchi State All Progressives Congress (APC) criticsed Zainabari’s claims.
The Publicity Secretary of the Bauchi APC Adamu Jallah urged the state government to hasten and pay workers their outstanding salaries.
Jallah said there is no justification for the government to withhold salaries of some staff for three months and more, when the state receives its monthly allocations from the federal government.
Dateline Nigeria reports that the state government raised many committees to look into the problem of discrepancies in the payment of salaries, but there are still civil servants waiting to receive their salaries for months.
