
There have been protests by Sudan’s Hausa people in various cities in the country over recent killings during ethnic clashes, the AFP news agency reports.
The authorities say that 79 people have been killed during the violence between Hausas and Berti, which began last week, in Blue Nile state.
AFP reports that protesters in the capital, Khartoum, held signs demanding “justice for the Blue Nile martyrs” and “no to the murder of Hausas”.
There were also marches in al-Showak, El Obeid, Port Sudan and elsewhere, AFP says.
The violence is reportedly over land access and rights.
