Court sentences Sheikh Abduljabbar Kabara to death by hanging

An Upper Shariah Court in Kano has sentenced Sheikh Abduljabbar Kabara to death by hanging for blasphemy.

The court, which also banned their airing of the cleric’s preaching on radio and television stations, asked the state government to take over the two mosques where Abduljabbar preaches.

“I am convinced that the prosecution counsel has done their part and proven their points beyond a reasonable doubt,” the judge Ibrahim Sarki Yola said while convicting Abduljabbar.

Dateline Nigeria reports that Sheikh Abduljabbar was charged to court for blasphemy in July 2021. The cleric was subsequently arraigned on Friday, July 16 before the Upper Sharia Court.
