Abducted family members of former Bauchi governor released, police confirm

Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed the release of three abducted family members of former Bauchi State Governor Ahmed Adamu Mu’azu.

The Bauchi Police Public Relations Officer SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil told reporters in Bauchi on Tuesday that the victims have been taken to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital for medical attention.

The victims – Hajiya Asma’u Alhaji Adamu, the younger sister to the former governor, Malama Halima Abdullahi, and one Nura – were kidnapped two weeks ago when bandits attacked the residence of the former governor, killing his nephew Mua’zu Danladi, 25.

Appreciating God for His intervention, relatives of the former governor said the victims were freed “following a negotiated release, and have commenced the necessary medical examinations and trauma therapy in the hospital”
