Some of the demands by the abductors included a ransom, fuel, drugs, beer and food.
A resident of Rijana, who is familiar with the details of the abduction told the BBC Hausa service that two of the chief’s children taken along with him have been released.
There are other people being held by the gunmen, including about 10 young men and women.
“Yesterday (Thursday), they said they should buy them petrol, bags of rice and other items, and that had been done. But they are still holding them,” the resident, who does not want to be identified, said.
He added that rather, the gunmen have made fresh demands. “What they are asking for is mostly food and drugs.”
