ABU to strengthen distance learning delivery by leveraging digital technologies, says VC

Ahmadu Bello University is committed to strengthening its distance learning programme delivery by leveraging digital technologies, according to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Adamu Ahmed.

He spoke at the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for a strategic partnership between the university and DazzleView Intelligent Technology Co. Ltd in Guangzhou, China on Monday, 1st June, 2026.

Collaborating with technology companies, he stated, could address one of the most pressing educational challenges facing many developing countries – the problem of out-of-school children.

The Vice-Chancellor also said effective pathways for expanding access to quality education for underserved and vulnerable populations could be explored by leveraging technology-enabled solutions.

“This is an area where partnerships between universities and technology companies can make a truly transformative difference”, he stressed.

Ahmed described the partnership between ABU and DazzleView as an important opportunity to strengthen collaboration in educational technology, research, capacity building, and industry engagement.

“Together, we can connect knowledge with practical application, transform ideas into solutions, and ensure that technology serves as a powerful tool for inclusion and development”, he further stressed.

He explained that the MoU signed on smart education between ABU and DazzleView was a foundation for a stronger and more productive relationship between both organizations.

He appreciated DazzleView immensely for the warm hospitality and continued support to the university.

Prof Ahmed also said the university would remain grateful to the DazzleView Technology for the donation in 2022 of a smart classroom to the institution.

The facility, according to him, has significantly enhanced teaching and learning at the university and demonstrated the transformative power of technology in education.

He stressed that ABU would remain committed to excellence in teaching, research, and innovation.

Ahmed stated that the university was also placing strong emphasis on entrepreneurship and commercialisation of research outputs and ensuring that discoveries and innovations were translated into practical solutions.
