First Lady Aisha Buhari has withdrawn her case against Aminu Muhammad, a student charged with “criminal defamation” over a tweet he posted which the president’s wife considered defamatory.
The lawyer representing the student, Barrister Chijioke K. Agu, said this in a text message sent to BBC Hausa. He did not elaborate.
This is coming after Aminu, a final student of Federal University Dutse spent three days in detention at a prison in Suleja.
The court in Maitama Abuja, where the student was arraigned, had earlier slated Monday to hear his bail application.
The wife of the president had accused Aminu of defaming her after he posted a photo of her with a caption in Hausa “su mama anchi kudin talakawa an koshi” meaningvthe first lady had fed fat on public fund.
Many lawyers had earlier accused the first lady of taking the laws into her hands
