The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 36-year-old woman, Anulika Onyeanusia, over an alleged case of child pornography in Onitsha, and rescued four children in the process.
The arrest was made on the evening Thursday, 10th September 2026, following what the Command described as “open-source intelligence concerning a disturbing trending video of a lady allegedly using sex toys on a minor.”
According to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the operation also led to the rescue of four children aged 2, 3, 6 and 9 years respectively. Sex toys and other items relevant to the investigation were also recovered from the suspect.
“The suspect is currently in police custody as the Command intensifies its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the alleged offence and the possible involvement of other persons,” the statement read.
SP Ikenga added that the husband of the suspect is also undergoing interrogation to determine whether he has any connection with the alleged offence.
The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, psc, described the alleged act as “unacceptable, particularly because it involves the exploitation and abuse of children who are incapable of protecting themselves.”
He has directed a thorough and professional investigation into the matter. The CP also ordered that the rescued children receive appropriate care and protection.
The Command said its priority beyond investigation and prosecution is “the safety, dignity and wellbeing of the rescued children.” It added that it will work with relevant child-protection and support agencies to ensure the victims receive necessary care, counselling and other support for their recovery.
“Their identities and privacy will be protected throughout the process, and they will be treated with compassion and sensitivity,” the statement said.
The Police also commended vigilante operatives in the area, as well as bloggers and residents who provided information that assisted in the arrest of the suspect.
Investigation is ongoing, the command said.
