APC needs a unifying national leader, Niger gov says

  • As Sen Ali Modu Sheriff visits to declare intention for chairmanship position

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State says the All Progressives Congress (APC) needs a leader that will unite every member of the party.

Governor Sani Bello stated this when he received former Governor of Borno state Senetor Ali Modu Sheriff on a visit to formally declare his intention to contest for the national Chairmanship position of the APC.

He said that the party was having its challenges hence the need for an experienced and credible leader that would carry everyone along.

“I want us to have a stable party with a leader that would bring everyone together”, he said.

Governor Sani Bello described Senator Sheriff as an experienced politician being a former Governor of Borno State and Senator who has the capacity and ability to unite members of the party.

While assuring him of his support, the Governor how ever urged him to accept the outcome of the election when the time comes, noting that many other interested parties will also come in to contest.

Earlier, the former Governor of Borno State Sen. Sheriff explained that his visit was in recognition of Governor Sani Bello’s position as a high-ranking member of the party owing to his leadership position at both at state and national level of the party.

He said if he eventually emerge as the chairman he will unite all members and treat them with respect.

“If I become the chairman, this party will be united.

“A party cannot be a party unless you unite everybody together, you must speak to people, make them understand that everyone is equal in the party”.
