Army trains Nigerian Correctional Service armed squad

The Commander Nigerian Army Training Centre, Major General Oluyinka Soyele has urged graduating Armed Squad of the Nigerian Correctional Service to remain professional in their conduct.

The Commander gave the advice on Thursday, June 30, 2022 in Kontagora Niger State during the graduation ceremony of 150 personnel of the Nigerian Correctional Service who took part in a 3 week Refresher Course at the Centre.

The Commander Major General Oluyinka Soyele who expressed satisfaction with the capacity of the training and conduct of the graduands charged them to be mindful of the peculiar challenges underlying the incessant attack and jail breaks across their facilities, charging them to be ready to adequately secure Correctional Centres across the country.

The Commander, while thanking the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) for choosing the Center for conduct of the training appreciated Officers and Men of the NATRAC for living up to expectations.

Earlier, while presenting the Course Appraisal, the Director Soldiers Professional Training Directorate, Brigadier General Ezekiel Ojo stated that the training is in continuation of efforts of the NCoS authority to develop manpower capacity and capabilities to curtail the constant jail break and other myriads of security challenges facing the Correctional Service.

He added that the three weeks rigorous training cover crash and intense Physical Training, Weapon Handling, Unarmed Combat and Range Classification.

In his speech, the Chief of Training, (Army) Major General Abdulsalami Ibrahim, represented by Acting Director Education, Army Headquarters Department of Training Lt Col Yahaya Nuhu, stated that the just concluded training of selected Nigerian Correctional Service Armed Squad personnel is to expose them to basic tenets, techniques and requisite skills to conduct specialized operations such as Convoy Drills, Protection of VIPs, Rescue Operations amongst others

The Chief of Training, (Army) Major General Ibrahim congratulated the graduands for succesfully completing the special training and urged them to be law abiding with high sense of professionalism.

The Chief of Training further expressed his appreciation to the Commander Nigerian Army Training Center, Director Soldiers Professional Training Directorate, all the instructors and supporting Staff of the Center.

In his vote of thanks, the Controller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, represented by Assitant Controller General of Corrections operations, Daniel Odaro, showered his heartfelt appreciation to the Commander and the leadership of the Nigerian Army for conduct of the well packaged training.

High points of the occasion was the colourful presentation of certificate and awards to the graduands who distinguished themselves during the Training.
