The former Vice President of Nigeria and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, has expressed shock and sadness over the death of House of Representatives member-elect Ismaila Maihanci.
Dateline Nigeria reports that Maihanci’s corpse has already arrived Jalingo, Taraba State for janaza (funeral prayer) at the Emir of Muri’s palace by 9am.
Atiku, in a tweet via his Twitter handle, said “I received with shock and sadness reports of the passing away of Ismaila Maihanci, a member-elect of the Jalingo/Yorro/Zing federal constituency, to the 10th National Assembly.
“Ismaila was a young, vibrant and promising politician whose sudden demise would be sorely missed in his constituency.
“I pray Allah, the benevolent and the merciful, to comfort his immediate family, friends, and associates and to grant the deceased eternal rest.”
Also, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate in Taraba State, Hon. Danladi Baido has consoled the family of Maihanci.
Hon. Baido who visited the deceased residence in Abuja was highly moved over the unfortunate death of the Member-elect.
He commiserated with the father, mother, wife and relations before the deceased remains were taken to Jalingo for final funeral.
Hon. Baido, who represents Karim Lamido/Lau/Ardo-Kola Federal Constituency of Taraba State, added that the demise of Alhaji Maihanci was quite touching but death is inevitable.
