BACCIMA says North East trade fair in Bauchi not postponed

The Bauchi State Chamber of Commerce, Industry Mines and Agriculture (BACCIMA) has said that the 15th North East Joint Domestic Trade Fair scheduled to be held in Bauchi.State has not been postponed.

The State President of BACCIMA Alhaji Aminu Mohammed Dan-maliki said what was postponed is the official opening ceremony of the fair which is billed to be performed by the Vice President, Kashim Shettima.

The Special Adviser to the Bauchi State Governor, Mukhtar M. Gidado, had last Monday issued a  press statement saying that the North East Domestic Trade Fair and official commissioning of new Government House Bauchi and North East Governors’ Forum (NEGF) meeting have all been postponed. 

Aminu said the trade fair has already  commenced since the 25th April, 2024 in IBB Square, Bauchi, and was opened to all businesses and transactions about the fair, revealing that the event will from the day of the official opening last for two weeks.

The President BACCIMA said the postponement was necessitated by the fact that the Vice President, Senator Kassim Shettima was on official engagement to represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. 

On the postponement of the official commissioning of the New Government House, Bauchi and the North East Governors’ Forum (NEGF) meeting, Aminu Dan-maliki said that the two other events may have also been postponed because it is the same Vice President that will perform them.

He said the business community from within and outside the country intended to participate in the North East Trade fair, and many have arrived Bauchi, many have opened their shops while the remaining are making last minutes preparation to start selling their commodities.

Aminu said the Trade fair is currently ongoing and will last up to the end of the month

Also speaking, the Director-general of the Special North East Domestic Trade Fair, Arc. Abdu Usman said that the trade fair was organized by the North East Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with the North East Governors’ Forum.

“The Vice President was one of our own in the North East, so we feel it is proper that he spearhead the opening ceremony of the four – five events slated for almost the same period”, Arc Usman said.

He said anytime the government fixed date for the opening ceremony , the Vice President will come and his coming will not affect the business activities going on at the trade fair ground.
