Bagudu visits communities where bandits killed security agents, civilians

Kebbi State Governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, on Saturday, visited Magaba community in Danko Wasagu Local Government of the state where some innocent persons as well as some security personnel were killed by armed bandits.

Speaking during the visit, Bagudu vowed that the state government will take urgent measures to ensure adequate protection of all law abiding residents in the state.

At Magaba village, the governor with his entourage listened to different narrations from some eyewitness and residents who recounted their ordeal from the attackers.

Liman Abdullahi Baba, Aminu Dadu, PRO of the Farmers association of the area, Adamu Magaji, Pastor Emmanuel Gavo told the governor how the attackers on motorcycles killed six people at Gulumbo, five at Magaba and three at Matseri villages.

They said the attackers raided shops and carted away whatever they can lay their hands on especially handsets and their livestock.

Bagudu said the state government will facilitate the urgent deployment of more policemen to the area, adding that the activities of the self volunteer group (Yan Sakai) had not been completely banned because “it is a good system, though infiltrated by some unpatriotic and heinous bad eggs.”

Bagudu futher announced that the Kebbi State Government would send relief assistance to the affected victims.

Governor Bagudu also made a stop over at Ribah General hospital to sympathise with two victims who sustained injury during the attack .

The residents while thanking the governor for his concern and sympathy over the visit, begged for deployment of more security personnel to the area.

Those who accompanied the governor included retired General Muhammadu Magoro, Senator Bala Ibn NaAllah (Kebbi South), Rep Kabiru Tukura (Zuru, Fakai, Danko Wasagu/Sakaba Federal Constituency).

Others are Acting Head of Service, Alhaji Sufyanu Bena, Special Adviser on Security, Garba Rabiu Kamba, Local Government Chairmen of Zuru, Danko Wasagu and Fakai, traditional leaders and politicians.

Bagudu also paid a condolence visit to 20 PMF squadron Ikeja, Lagos over the death of four PMF personnel who were killed in recent attack by the bandits in Danko Wasagu Local Government of Kebbi State.

Responding, the commandant 20 PMF Ikeja Lagos, ACP Mohammed Muktar Garba thanked the Governor for visit and appreciated the concern shown by the Kebbi State Government over the unfortunate incident.
