Bandits ambush, kill 7 policemen in Zamfara

Bandits on Monday morning ambushed a police patrol vehicle, killing seven mobile policemen in Zamfara State.

The officers were members of the Operation Puff Adder, deployed to parts of Zamfara to tackle bandit activities ravaging the state.

Security sources disclosed that the bandits, in large number, ambushed the vehicle conveying the security personnel near Jangeme village in Gusau Local Government, killing all the occupants before setting it ablaze.

Medical personnel at Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital, where the remains of the stained officers were deposited, said one of the victims was set ablaze by the attackers.

Dateline Nigeria gathered that the policemen had been providing security around Jangeme and neighbouring villages.

Attempts to speak to the state police command over the incident did not succeed.
