Bandits kidnap Bungudu LG chairman, kill three in Zamfara

Bandits have reportedly abducted the Chairman of Bungudu Local Government Area in Zamfara State, Hon. Nura Abdullahi, along with his wife and two children.

The incident, according to residents, occurred on Friday night, with the bandits killing three people in the attack.

Those killed have been identified as Nura ADC, driver of vigilante vehicle; one Ibrahim Ba’are and a police officer Basiru Lawwali.

Dateline Nigeria learnt that the gunmen later released the politician’s wife and his children. “The wife and the children are now in Gada town. The wife said they were released by the bandits who told them that their target was the chairman,” said a resident who wants to remain anonymous.

As at the time of filing this report, the Zamfara State Police Command has not issued an official statement confirming the incident.

Bungudu LGA has in recent years been one of the areas affected by banditry and kidnapping in Zamfara State.
