Senator Shehu Buba Umar (APC, Bauchi South) has commissioned a newly completed modern Islamic school and mosque he personally constructed in Yelwan Duguri District of Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
Commissioning the project, Senator Shehu Buba said the construction of the model Islamic school and mosque was part of his efforts to support and promote the Islamic faith across his constituency.
“I built this school and mosque to support the growth of Islam and to provide a befitting place of learning and place of worship for the people of this community,” he stated. “This is part of my commitment to give back to my constituents and contribute to their spiritual well-being.”
Senator Buba thanked the crowd that witnessed the commissioning of the mosque, and thanked his followers for their unflinching support and pledged to continue to bring developmental projects aimed at uplifting the socio-economic life of the people in the local government through his foundation.
He said the construction of the Islamiyya school followed a request from community members, and he immediately approved it to enhance access to quality Islamic and moral education.
“This school is a fulfillment of my campaign promise to provide the people with basic educational infrastructure and other essential services. Education remains the foundation for a better future, and I am determined to contribute to that cause,” the Senator said.
Senator Buba added that, since assuming office, he has initiated several projects across his constituency in education, health, agriculture, and infrastructure development, as well as other sectors.
He commended the teachers and students for their dedication, urging them to make the best use of the new facility to promote learning and discipline.
The Senator’s Special Assistant, Alhaji Hassan Abdullahi Gaji, who supervised the project, described the gesture as a reflection of Senator’s dedication to the propagation of Islam.
He explained that the School and the mosque project includes modern toilet facilities for the convenience of pupils and worshippers, and forms part of a broader initiative to improve living conditions across the senatorial district.
“This is not the first mosque the Senator has constructed in Yelwan Duguri “He has consistently delivered various dividends of democracy, including boreholes, healthcare facilities, and culverts across the entire constituency.”
Gaji explained that before its construction, students were learning in a borrowed residential house. He said that when the community presented their request to the Senator for the construction of a school, he promptly approved the project.
Gaji noted that the new facility was constructed to modern standards and includes a mosque to support both academic and religious learning.
The school’s Principal, Muhammad Adamu, expressed deep appreciation to the Senator for his intervention, noting that the school has already attracted more students eager to learn in a safe and comfortable environment.
“We thank Senator Buba for putting smiles on the faces of our people. We promise to take good care of this school so that it will serve our community for many years,” Adamu said.
He expressed deep appreciation for the lawmaker’s contribution. He said that the community had for decades attempted to build the school but lacked the resources to bring the project to fruition.
“We are truly grateful to Senator Shehu Buba for stepping in where others could nor.
“This is a historic achievement for the people of Yelwan Duguri and urged the parents and the community leaders to take responsibility for its maintenance and continued development.”
Many people who spoke in Yelwan Duguri thanked Senator Shehu Buba for the generous gesture, offering prayers for his continued protection and success during his tenure in office.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by religious leaders, community elders, youths, and political stakeholders, who hailed the project as a symbol of unity and progress in the area.
Later, Senator Buba also visited a model Friday mosque he is building for in Birim community in Alkaleri Local Government, which is nearing completion and expressed his satisfaction with the quality of work in the mosque and assured that it will soon be commission.
