Boderi: Three major attacks organized by eliminated terror kingpin

The Kaduna State Government, on Thursday, announced the killing of Boderi Isyaku, “a notorious bandit, insurgent and ruthless killer”, and some of his fighters by troops of the Nigerian Army.

According to the Overseeing Commissioner, Kaduna State Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, security forces confirmed the development to the state government. He said Boderi was neutralized in a gun duel around Bada/Riyawa axis of Chikun and Igabi local government areas of the state.

Aruwan said Boderi had propagated a reign of fear, death and destruction in Kaduna State and neighboring Niger State for nearly a decade, with a trademark of cattle rustling, brutal attacks, mass abductions and cruel, relentless killing.

“Boderi was involved in a range of deadly attacks spanning Sabon Birni, Rigasa, Buruku, Gwagwada, Rijana and Kateri general areas, the Kaduna-Abuja Road, the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari Road, as well as Shiroro, Alawa, and Mangoro general areas of neighbouring Niger State,” Aruwan said.

Here are three attacks blamed on the eliminated terror kingpin:

1. Boderi plotted and executed the 11th March 2021 abduction of 39 (23 female and 16 male) students of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanization, Afaka, Igabi LGA.

2. On the 24th of August 2021, Boderi masterminded the attack on the Afaka campus of the Nigerian Defence Academy, Igabi LGA. Two officers were killed and another abducted.

3. On 14th September 2021, Boderi led his gang of bandits in the kidnapping of the Emir of Bungudu, Alhaji Hassan Atto, around Dutse village, Chikun LGA. The Emir’s police detail was killed. The emir was also freed after 32 days in captivity.
