Zazzau emir: Court paves way for Bamalli’s inauguration on Monday

Ambassador Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli can be inaugurated as the 19th Emir of Zazzau, a Kaduna State High Court in Sabon Gari, Zaria, has ruled.

Dateline Nigeria reports that Bamalli’s inauguration, slated for Monday, November 9, will hold in Zaria, the headquarters of the Zazzau emirate.

Justice Kabir Dabo however promised to grant an accelerated hearing to the suit challenging the process that culminated in the appointment of Ambassador Bamalli.

A senior prince Iyan Zazzau, Alhaji Bashar Aminu, had challenged the appointment of Bamalli by Governor Nasir El-Rufai asking the court to invalidate the process and stop the coronation of the former ambassador as the 19th emir of Zazzau.

He is also requesting the court to declare him the emir having had the most votes by the kingmakers.

The Zazzau throne had become vacant with the death of the 18th emir Dr Shehu Idris who ruled for 45 years.

It would be recalled that Amb Bamalli had visited a number of emirates, including Sokoto Sultanate and Kano emirate, to invite the monarchs to his coronation on Monday.
