Buhari destroyed Nigeria before handing over to Tinubu — Rarara

Famous political singer Dauda Kahutu (Rarara) has accused former President Muhammadu Buhari of destroying Nigeria before handing over the reins of government to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Rarara, who gained fame with his numerous praise-songs for Buhari ahead of the 2015 presidential election, spoke in an undated video which showed him addressing a press conference. The video is trending on social media, especially Facebook.

The singer, who claimed to have worked for the emergence of Buhari as president more than Buhari himself, said Tinubu has achieved in 100 days what Buhari recorded in his eight years in office.

He said the president and his appointees should be bold enough to tell Nigerians that “Buhari destroyed the country before handing over power.

“When we took power from the PDP, we told the world that the country had been destroyed. We didn’t mince words about the Jonathan administration. So why should we not tell Nigerians the reality?

“There was someone who even said that we were going to inherit a carcass after Buhari. We thought he was just playing politics, until we assumed power.

“This is why I want the president to tell Nigerians the truth. What people are expecting now will be difficult because Buhari has killed all government parastatals.”

While announcing his regret for supporting Buhari, the singer said, “Buhari brought in strangers who were ignorant of our contribution into his government. Likewise, they have now appointed ministers. Some of them will claim not to know me. But to be in Tinubu’s government and not to know me is risky.

“If a minister needs to be reminded that I was the one who sang ‘Jagaba shine gaba’ I am above that. If they are appointing ministers in this government, even if I wouldn’t be considered, I should be the one to nominate because we know those who fought us both within and outside the All Progressives Congress (APC). I deserve more than a slot.”

But responding to the singer’s allegations, Bashir Ahmad, a former presidential aide to Buhari, said Rarara tried to ascribe to himself influence he never had, adding that most of his claims made no sense.

“No sane person will trust someone that is ready to stand the truth on its head for pecuniary gains.

“There was no song for Buhari that Rarara did without being paid his dues.

“Lastly, Rarara failed to come out publicly to say that Buhari never helped him in his life.”
