A Shariah court in Bauchi State has returned property documents to those who stood as sureties to secure bail for Dr. Idris Abdul’aziz Dutsen Tanshi.
This means the court can revoke the bail and order the arrest of the cleric any moment it so decides.
Barrister Ahmad Musa Umar, a counsel to Dr Idris, told the BBC Hausa Service that “the court can issue warrant foe the police to arrest Dr Idris at any time”.
“The court said it adjourned the case to January 24, 2024 and expects security agents to present Dr Idris before the next adjourned qdate,” Barrister Ahmad Musa said.
Dr Idris Dutsen Tanshi is being accused of defamation against Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as well as incitement.
The case is however yet to commence, but Dr Idris Dutsen Tanshi had previously been detained for 39 days between June and July last year, his lawyer said.
