Covid-19: Niger governor issues new directives

The Niger State Government has issued new directives on Covid-19 following the disregard for the established safety protocols of the pandemic.

The directives, read by Governor Abubakar Sani Bello on Wednesday, were contained in a statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary Mary Noel-Berje

The directives include:

Reinvigorated curfew from 10PM-4AM daily;

Reinforced strict adherence to safety protocols of wearing face masks, hand-washing, use of sanitizers, and maintenance of physical distancing;

All forms of mass gathering occasioned by the easing of the lockdown are proscribed;

Ministries and other relevant MDAs directed to embark on massive sensitization of publi on the need yo curtail the spread of the virus especially in markets, motor parks, places of worship, among others;

Henceforth all deaths should be reported and recorded at the closest health facility for burial protocols from Ministry of Health;

Access to Government House and othet government offices are restricted except for those on essential duties;

Security agencies are directed to strictly enforce compliance, while violators of all the directives will be prosecuted by mobile courts.
