A 500 level student of Veterinary Medicine of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, who is in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Bauchi for allegedly stabbing a 17-year-old secondary student to death, has said that he acted in self-defence..
The NSCDC Commandant in Bauchi Ilelaboye Oyejide told newsmen on Sunday in Bauchi that the student identified as Abdullahi Ibrahim was arrested in Misau local government area of the state.
He said the command received information that 17-year-old secondary student Umar Usman was found wrapped in a cloth and dumped at Misau bypass.
“This is a case of culpable homicide, on the 20th October 2023 a lifeless body of Umar Usman was found wrapped in a white cloth and dumped in Misau bypass.
“He was quickly taken to General Hospital Misau where he was certified dead and handed over to the family for burial,” Oyejide said .
According to the commandant, when we received the report of the incident we raised a team of intelligence officers to go to Misau and investigate it with a view to bringing the perpetrators to book.
He said after a series of investigations by the operatives the suspect Abdullahi Ibrahim was arrested.
“We come to realise that there was a chat communication between the suspect Ibrahim and the deceased Usman.
“In the communication we saw where the suspect entices the deceased with homosexual love where he showed him his naked picture.
“When the deceased went to meet him somehow he was stabbed in the stomach and wrapped in white cloth and dumped where he was found.
The commandant said during investigation the suspect confessed to the crime and would be charged to court according to his offense.
Meanwhile, the suspect, Ibrahim said the deceased approached him with knife. In self defense, it led to a struggle which resulted in stabbing the deceased to death.
“I was really afraid because it was something I have never encountered in my life. That is why I wrapped the dead body in a cloth and dumped it along the bypass side,” he said.
