Eid-el-Kabir: Leave Nigerians alone, Abia Imam begs gunmen

The Chief Imam of Umuahia Central Mosque, Mallam Aminu Lawan, have appealed to gunmen to stop the incessant kidnappings in the country and allow Nigerians, particularly, Abians have a breathing space.

The cleric made the appeal in his Sallah message in Umuahia on the occasion of 2022 Eid-El-Kabir celebration, and pleaded with God to recall the gunmen harassing the state.

He advised people to show love and live in peace as “we don’t have any other country we can call ours”.

Speaking, the Chairman, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Abia State chapter Alh. Suleiman Ukandu, noted that there is the need for peace to reign through justice.

“Let there be justice and understanding for the development and enhancement of human race, protection of lives and property, and the welfare of the citizens should be taken serious.

“It is not easy to witness another Sallah. I am grateful to God for this”.

Fielding questions from newsmen, the Sarkin Hausawa Abia State, Yaro Danladi, called for all to embrace peace “irrespective of tradition, religion or tribe”.

He called on the Federal Government to stop banditry and kidnapping “as all that are being kidnapped are human beings”.

He thanked the State Government for the tolerance and support to Muslim community in the state.

The occasion featured the reversion to Islam by marriage by one Miss Queen Mba, now Hasya Mba and the slaughter of ram to reflect the obedience of Ibrahim to God and sacrifice.
