Kaduna State Governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai has presented the Staff of Office to the Agwam Zikpak, Dr. Kantiyok Josiah Tagwai, in Kafanchan.
Speaking at the ceremony on Monday, El-Rufai said aspiring rraditional rulers must be accomplished managers, non-partisan and epitomes of integrity.
He said said “This government will never approve the nomination of, or appoint partisan politicians, ethnic or religious bigots, failed public servants, wealthy people with no visible business or means of livelihood, tax evaders exhibiting lavish lifestyles or people of questionable integrity as district heads, graded chiefs and emirs.
“The traditional leaders of this day and age in Kaduna State must not only be born in royal lineage but be soundly educated and possess solid experience in the public or private sectors.
“They must have built a distinguished track record that is honest and free of corruption perceptions, demonstrated commitment to promoting community values, unity in diversity and peaceful coexistence in our state and nation at large.”
He wished him a successful and peaceful reign over all the people of various ethnic and religious persuasions that live in your territory. “As the Agwam of the community hosting the Kaduna State University Kafanchan campus, we are confident that peace, prosperity and progress will be your legacy,” he said.
