Ezza/Effium clash: Rep condemns killings, calls for calm

Following the recent crisis between the Ezza and Effium of Ohaukwu LGA of Ebonyi State, the Member representing Ado/Ogbadibo/Okpokwu Federal Constituency, Dr. Francis Ottah Agbo has called on the two groups to cease from further hostilities and allow peace to reign.

While condemning the savage violence, particularly the ongoing killings and destruction of property in Ulayi District, the lawmaker said it is instructive that the Ezza and Effium resolve the issues between them and embrace peace so as not to allow the crisis spill over to other communities in Ado LGA.

Ohaukwu LGA shares boundary with Ulayi District in Ado Local Government Area of Benue State.

A statement signed by the Media Adviser to the Lawmaker, Mr. Andrew Agbese, quoted Dr. Ottah Agbo to have spoken when some youth leaders from Inikiri, in Ulayi District, of Ado LGA, consulted him on the matter in Ijigban today!

It will be recalled that disagreement by Ezza and Effium Road Transport Workers over who should lead the organisation in Ohaukwu LGA had yesterday, caused crisis that led to the killing of people and wanton destruction of property.

Hoodlums from the two ethnic groups had taken advantage of the crisis and have reporteldy started molesting innocent people in Ulayi District, particularly in Inikiri, Odum and environs, thereby causing tension in Ado LGA.

The FeedBack Lawmaker who is the Chairman of the Narcotic Drugs Committee and Spokesman of the Minority Caucus warned trouble makers to steer clear of Ado, saying security agencies have been alerted to apprehend miscreants and bring them to book.

The Ozigizaga and Moving Train of Enone said he is in constant touch with the relevant security agencies and leaders of both Ezza and Effium and expressed confidence that both Ezza and Effium will once more enjoy peace!
