The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) have shared the six area councils in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in the just-concluded election, winning three each.
The PDP won Kuje, Bwari and the Abuja Municipal, while the APC took Abaji, Kwali and Gwagwalada area councils.
In Kuje, PDP’s candidate and incumbent chairman, Suleman Sabo, polled 13,301 votes to defeat Sarki Hamidu of the APC, who garnered 7,694 votes.
In AMAC, the PDP candidate, Christopher Zakka, polled 19,302 votes to beat Murtala Karshi of the APC who scored 13,249 votes.
In Bwari, the PDP candidate and incumbent chairman John Gabaya polled 13,045 to defeat Audi Shekwolo of the APC who had 7,697 votes.
However, in Gwagwalada, the APC candidate, Jubrin Abubakar, garnered 11,125 votes to defeat Mohammed Kassim of the PDP who got 9,597 votes.
In Kwali, Danladi Chiya of the APC scored 7,646 to defeat Haruna Pai of the PDP who garnered 7,345 votes.
In Abaji, the APC scored 7, 289 votes to defeat the candidate of the opposition PDP, Alhaji Yahaya Gawu, who got 4, 062 votes. The returning officer, Prof Gabriel Mordi, did not announce the name of the winner due to a pending court case.
Abubakar Abdullahi and Mohammed Loko are awaiting the verdict of the Supreme Court to determine the true APC candidate in Abaji.
