The Federal Government has launched the distribution of two million packs of sanitary towels and learning materials to girls in public basic education schools across the 36 states and the FCT to improve menstrual health, attendance and school retention.
The initiative, Flow with Confidence, Keeping Every Girl in School, was launched on 12 October 2026 by First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu at the State House, Abuja, to commemorate the International Day of the Girl Child.
Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for prioritising children in national development and praised the First Lady’s advocacy for girls’ education.
Alausa disclosed that the programme would be institutionalised through UBEC and the World Bank-supported Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project. Beneficiaries will receive sanitary towels, school bags, shoes, exercise books, mathematics textbooks and writing materials.
Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad, stressed that no girl should have to choose between education and menstrual health.
UBEC Executive Secretary, Dr. Aisha Garba, reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to removing barriers to girls’ education. The Ministry urged state governments and education authorities to ensure transparent distribution and accountability.
