Ganduje inaugurates seven-man COVID-19 professional support group

...to launch mobile testing laboratory soon

Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has announceed the inauguration of a seven man COVID-19 professional support group to tackle the growing pandemic in the state which has already reported 219 cases.

The committee, made up of volunteering professionals across the state will be saddled with the monitoring and sensitization of the populace on the workings of the novel coronavirus, Ganduje said via his twitter handle.

He however did not mention the names of the members of the committee.

“I want to personally appreciate these wonderful people who are ready to sacrifice their well being to ease the burden of the pandemic on our people.

“At the moment, we currently have 219 confirmed cases and the committee has already begun tracing 239 people who had contact with carriers.

“To boost our fight against COVID-19, a mobile testing laboratory will soon be launched to make the collection of samples more efficient.

“We ask that the wonderful people of Kano make it a habit to wash their hands regularly use face masks, and maintain social distancing to cull the spread,” the governor said.

There were reports earlier that Ganduje had appealed to the Federal Government to ease the lockdown in the state for the people to stock up on food and other essentials for the Ramadan fasting.
